Ancient cultures had ingenious methods for physical training - the example which most readily comes to mind is Yoga. However many more traditions have endured and are available to us today. Collectively these traditions are now described as "Unconventional Training" and are distinguished by demanding a level of core strength, balance and mobility not required by most modern methods. The kettlebell is the most common implement used in Unconventional Training and has come to symbolize the approach. Other implements include heavy clubs and maces, and body-weight exercises similar to Yoga are featured as well.
Unconventional Training is for those who want to recover from chronic pain or nagging injuries. It's for those who want a mobility-focused fitness program. It's for those seeking a holistic but non-dogmatic approach to training.
