American Commissary, LLC

The American Commissary, is a small General Merchandise Store with a big goal – our goal is to help create jobs by buying and selling products made in the United States of America.

We have been asked why the store is called “American Commissary”. First of all, the “American” stands for so many wonderful things – freedom, liberty, and justice for all – the country where anyone, willing to work, could have a job and could achieve the “American Dream”.

The “Commissary” is a part of the store name because it symbolizes, for us, the achievement of the American Dream. In the early 1900’s, our family lived in a coal mining camp where there was only one store – the “Commissary”. Remembering from where we came, keeps us humble and thankful to be an American.

America is a relatively young country but has surpassed all other countries and cultures because of its key values. However, in the past few years, as we have looked around us, we have seen many of our friends and neighbors who have been unable to find and/or keep jobs because our economy has suffered greatly and our proud values have not been exploited.

To try and help, we decided to set up a store front to buy and sell USA made products. During the past few months we have put forth a significant amount of effort to try and find merchandise made in the USA—it has been difficult to say the least. We, like you, understand that we live in a global economy, but we also know that in order to have jobs in the USA, we must find a way to buy and sell the products made by the people in the USA.

Even though one small store cannot make a significant impact on its own, it can provide a way that will allow those of you, who have a desire to help create jobs, a way to do so. As we work together we can apply our entrepreneurial skills to develop high quality products – much the same as the previous generation that made this country great. Our mission is intended to evolve, you can help.

In the future we will concentrate and focus on a variety of monthly themes – examples include pottery, art, woodwork, Native American crafts, candles, soaps, clothing, home décor, tools. Do you have a favorite?

If you make a product that you want to sell, you can help us by letting us help you. We could help you sell more products and maybe even allow you to hire someone to help you produce even more products.

If you have family, friends, or neighbors who make a product that they wish to sell, you can encourage them to come to the store and let us help them by buying or selling the products that they produce.

When you have gifts to buy for family or friends, consider buying USA products from the store.

If you are aware of a USA manufactured product that you believe would be a good seller, please send us the information.

The opening of the store was July 1, 2013, and thanks to many wonderful people we are buying and selling numerous USA made products.
We are counting on “word of mouth” advertising to help us continue to make a contribution – in helping create USA jobs.

In God we trust that together we can enjoy the American Dream.
