What is Zumba Fitness®?
Zumba® is a dance fitness class that uses Latin and other global rhythms and moves to burn calories while having a ton of fun! It’s been called ‘exercise in disguise’ because it’s unlike any other aerobic workout you’veever done. You’ll should leave feeling energized and feel great about what your body can do! It utilizes asound philosophy of ‘interval training’ which means we take you through high and low intensity for maximumcalorie burning.
Do you have to be trained dancer to join Zumba Fitness?
Absolutely NOT! But it helps if you LIKE to dance! There is no choreography to learn. The moves are easy.Just follow along and without realizing it, you will learn global dance moves like cumbia, merengue, salsa,quebradita, bellydance, reggae-ton and MORE! A good instructor will teach the basic move and then showyou how to ‘make it bigger‘ by adding arms or increasing the intensity and how to ‘add flavor’ to the move.Choose the level you’re comfortable with. Leave your inhibitions at the door and just have fun. It’s MEANTto be fun! And Zumba is for every BODY! No matter your current fitness level, you can DO THIS!
About your heart rate:
If your goal is to burn calories then getting your whole body involved more in the move will do that! If you feel you’re getting too hot or your heart rate is getting too high...back off with yourarms, don’t add any impact or jumps .....but keep your feet moving. Take a water break whenever you needto.
What to wear:
You need to wear them as shoes are important for safety, especially if you like to go ‘high impact’. A basic ‘cross training’ shoe or shoes with leather soles are fine. Not recommended: Running Shoes because they are only designed for forward movement and Shape Up shoes because they limit your lateral moves and could cause you to twist your ankle.
